CANCELLATION OF THE 73rd PYRFORD AND WISLEY FLOWER SHOW
This is a sad letter to write, but it has been decided that the current challenging climate has left the committee with no option but to cancel the 73rd Pyrford and Wisley Flower Show which was scheduled to take place on Saturday 11th July. We are deeply saddened by having to make this decision as the show brings much joy to the many thousands in the community who attend. We also appreciate that it will be very disappointing for those who spend many hours preparing exhibits for our Junior, Domestic and Handicraft, and Horticultural sections, the many volunteers who help to put the show on, as well as local performing groups who entertain us.
This is the first time in 72 years that the event will not take place. Over many decades the show has raised tens of thousands of pounds for local charities and community groups, and has also provided local artists, crafters and businesses with the opportunity to advertise and sell their products and services. It is a real shame that we will not be able to support these local charities and groups this year.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our individual and business sponsors, many of whom have been loyal supporters of the show for many years.
I am privileged to work alongside an outstanding group of individuals who spend numerous hours preparing for, and running, the show. We are all fully committed to returning with an amazing show on 10th July 2021.
On behalf of the show committee, may I wish you and your families well, and we very much look forward to seeing you all in and around our villages when measures allow, and of course at next year’s show.
